Chivalware, a grid-based roguelite that combines tile matching with real-time combat, launches November 5 on PC and Nintendo Switch 2, according to publisher The Arcade Crew. The game is being developed by solo developer Regal Pigeon Games, based in Hong Kong.
A demo is already available on both Steam and the Switch 2 eShop. The trailer is also live on YouTube.
Players take on the role of a Disk Knight in a cyber meets medieval world. The kingdom asks you to slay its King, who has been driven mad by power and years of isolation. As you fight your way toward the castle, strange glitches hint that something deeper is going on.
Combat asks you to match tiles on the battlefield in sets of three to earn and equip new weapons, while dodging real-time attacks on a grid. Between runs you can permanently unlock new items, weapons and playable Disk Knights to change how you play.
According to the publisher, the game is meant to be easy to pick up but hard to master, and it aims to push the genre further than the tactical adventures it draws from. Regal Pigeon Games previously self-published its debut, Neophyte, on Steam in 2022.
