The midnight launch is back for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Best Buy’s late-night store openings on Thursday, November 5 include the game in limited edition foil cover packaging, plus a free poster with purchase, while supplies last. There is a deadline first: if your preorder is set to ship and you want to collect it at the event, you have until Tuesday, November 3 at 11:59 p.m. ET to change it.
Change a shipped preorder by November 3 at 11:59 p.m. ET
Sign in to your Best Buy account, go to your purchase history and modify the order to pick up at a late-night opening. Reports on the event say this applies to the game, not to console or controller preorders.
Doors open at midnight ET, which is earlier out west
Best Buy lists the openings as November 5 at midnight ET. Local reporting says that works out to the evening of November 4 elsewhere in the U.S.: 11 p.m. Central, 10 p.m. Mountain and 9 p.m. Pacific.
That same report says nearly all U.S. stores are taking part, while Best Buy’s own page says “select stores.” Don’t assume yours is one of them. The event page has a state and location picker that shows participating stores, and it is worth calling ahead.
The Zelda Switch 2 and Pro Controller will be there in limited quantities
Stores will also have The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2, sold without the game, and the matching Pro Controller. Best Buy says quantities are limited and there are no rainchecks, and the poster is limited to one per transaction.
The game launches on Switch 2 the same day. We have also looked at which upscaler the Switch 2 version uses.
