Blizzard’s November 6 hotfixes for WoW: Forever include a fix for Vorsha the Lasher, who had been “rudely lashing everyone in the zone” during her Ashenvale quest. The line is one of several jokes in the official hotfix list, which also closes a Night Elf Druid trick, fixes a Maraudon spawn and tunes a Warlock pet.
Blizzard has been patching WoW: Forever daily since launch on November 4, and someone on the team is clearly enjoying writing the notes.
Kerlonian gets coffee, and Damp Notes drop more often
Vorsha isn’t the only joke. The other quest and world fixes read like this:
- Kerlonian Evershade gets “a fresh pot of Darnassus’s finest coffee” so he falls asleep less often during “The Sleeper Has Awakened”, and players now start the quest with the Horn of Awakening to wake him up.
- The Damp Note drop rate is up. Blizzard’s whole comment: “Eww.”
- The Thunder Bluff barbershop was darker than intended, so Blizzard “moooved the lights around”.
- “Never Saddle on Quality” spawns and quest drops are more plentiful, and Riverglades quest items now share across your party.
Shadowmelded Night Elf Druids can’t open with Ravage or Pounce anymore
A bug let Night Elf Druids use Ravage and Pounce while in Shadowmeld, the racial ability that hides you while you stand still. Both openers normally need the Druid’s own Prowl, so the bug gave Night Elves a stealth opener other races didn’t have. It’s now fixed.
Orcs lose a small edge too. Some Warlock pet abilities were benefiting too much from the Orc Command racial, which Blizzard brought back in the racial rework, and that’s been corrected.
Voidwalkers gain about 40 health, and Mages lose a spell they shouldn’t have
The class changes are mostly small:
- Warlock Voidwalkers have about 40 more base health at every level, and the Soul Siphon talent no longer makes Wrack boost its own damage.
- Mages were learning a Research spell and losing it on relog. It shouldn’t exist, and you should only have Study after the relevant quest. Arcane Blast’s duration is now properly 18 seconds.
- Druids: Bloom now heals its target, and the Bear Form, Ravage and Swiftmend tooltips are corrected. Damage didn’t change.
- The Quick and the Dead Legacy Talent works reliably, and the Cooldown Manager shows crowd control durations correctly with diminishing returns.
Maraudon’s Zaetar’s Spirit now spawns after Princess Theradras
In dungeons, Zaetar’s Spirit wasn’t appearing after you killed Princess Theradras in Maraudon, and that’s fixed. Creatures in Blackmaw Hold and The Drowned City no longer drop out of combat at random, and The Drowned City’s instance portal now takes you inside.
Leatherworkers get a break as well. The Tanning Rack now needs 125 skill instead of 140, so it no longer blocks patterns that ask for 125, and its skill-ups come 15 points earlier to match.
The last world fix may matter most for anyone who’s found a zone empty: Blizzard deployed “some improvements to the visibility of other players and their targets across relatively large distances”. WoW Classic and Forever developer Josh Greenfield said on launch night that some zones felt emptier than they should, and that Blizzard would tweak layer populations.
