Apogee Entertainment and Trigger Happy Interactive have released a Retro Graphics Mode update for survival horror game Total Chaos, out now on PC and consoles.

The update adds a visual style inspired by the original Total Chaos DOOM II mod and PlayStation 2-era survival horror games. Retro Graphics Mode reduces texture resolution, increases pixelation, and applies post-processing effects that pixelate the screen. Monster models have been replaced with low-poly versions.

The patch also introduces a fifth ending through a New Game+ Epilogue, map and location markers for navigation, playtime tracking in save files and on the in-game HUD, a garbage chute for disposing of unwanted items, and a reworked Protector chapter.

Total Chaos started as an award-winning total conversion mod of DOOM II before becoming a standalone title. The game blends survival horror elements across nine chapters set in the decayed Fort Oasis, a former coal-mining community. It features crafting, resource management, and environmental storytelling.

The soundtrack includes original work by Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka alongside original Total Chaos mod composers and Apogee’s music team.

Total Chaos is available for $24.99 on Windows PC via Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store, as well as Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
