Apogee Entertainment and developer Trigger Happy Interactive released a major update for Total Chaos on PC and consoles, adding a Retro Graphics Mode that emulates the visual style of the original Total Chaos DOOM II mod and PlayStation 2-era survival horror games.
The Retro Graphics Mode reduces texture resolution and increases pixelation across environments, adds post-processing effects, and replaces monsters with low-poly models. The update also introduces a fifth ending via the New Game+ Epilogue, giving players new story content to discover.
Beyond the visual overhaul, the patch adds map and location markers to help navigate Fort Oasis, playtime tracking visible in save files and on the HUD, and a garbage chute inventory system that lets players stash unwanted items before retrieving them at chapter’s end. The Forgotten chapter has been reworked for a smoother experience across all difficulty settings.
Total Chaos began as an award-winning total conversion mod before evolving into a standalone survival horror title. The game is available for $24.99 on Windows PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
