Devolver Digital has launched Shroom and Gloom on Steam Early Access for $14.99. The double-deck-building roguelite dungeon crawler, developed by Team Lazerbeam, challenges players to descend into hand-drawn fungal dungeons and battle mushroom enemies.

The game uses two distinct decks: Combat for attacking and eating enemies, and Explore for revealing and interacting with the environment. Players draw from hundreds of cards across both decks to progress through procedurally generated dungeons toward a mysterious underground realm called The Gloom.

Core mechanics include infinitely upgradeable attacks, transformable cards that can scale from low-level to game-breaking power, and a cooking system where defeated fungal enemies can be eaten for health or brewed into soups for special effects. The game features five playable characters and two separate paths to reach The Gloom, each with unique card pools.

The Early Access release includes quests to unlock new content, with the developer planning to add more cards, enemies, dungeons and features during development. According to the studio, the game’s demo attracted over 200,000 downloads prior to launch.
