The Queen’s Domain progression route runs from the opening beach to the shrine, the Tower of Knowledge’s neighbors, Obelbiar Temple, and finally the Tower of Knowledge itself, ending at the mausoleum door you see at the very start. This guide covers roughly the first third to half of the roughly 40-hour game, in the exact order that keeps you from getting lost in the dense, looping map. It’s written for players who keep running into locked gates and don’t know which wind gem, key, or gargoyle statue to chase next.

Quick start: reach the mausoleum in 10 steps
The fastest path is to clear the shrine for the Holy Sword of Endu, collect two more wind gems, finish Obelbiar Temple, light three gargoyle statues, then conquer the Tower of Knowledge.
- Grab the rusty sword from the soldiers at the campfire, then rush to the dagger belt for throwing weapons.
- Get the crypt key from the crypt reached by looping around the beach, then beat the shrine guardian and take the Holy Sword of Endu (wind gem #1).
- Dash east to the Tower of Knowledge approach and take the Azure Torch from the gargoyle statue.
- Reach the second save point, climb the rocks between the pillars, and fly to wind gem #2.
- Light the first gargoyle statue up the broken stairway, then the second gargoyle statue north of the elevator.
- Double dash across the broken bridge to the third save point and collect the four triangular slates.
- Open Obelbiar Temple, find the third wind gem, defeat three royal guard sub bosses, and beat Daggum, the sea king.
- Light the third gargoyle statue, fast travel back to the start area, and enter the Tower of Knowledge.
- Light gargoyles number three and seven, claim the Storm Gem, open the Forbidden Archives with Bodine’s key, and beat the Necronomicon.
- Use the acid vial to pop the face pimple near Bodine and open the path out to the mausoleum.
What you need before starting the Queen’s Domain route
The only things you truly need are throwing weapons, healing items, and a willingness to explore every corner, because the game rewards it constantly.
- Dagger belt: Throwing weapons make combat far more manageable. Grab it as early as possible.
- Herbs and elixirs: You’ll find plenty. Use them freely, especially against bosses.
- Impact weapon: The wooden club from the crypt is ideal against skeletons, including the shrine guardian.
- Stock of throwing weapons (Optional but helpful): Daggers, piercing daggers, and occult knives make the Daggum and Necronomicon fights much easier. Occult knives drop from the trapdoor in the Tower of Knowledge.
- Air dashes: You’ll gather three wind gems in total over this route. Each one adds an extra mid-air dash.

The order of Queen’s Domain locations: shrine, wind gems, Obelbiar Temple, Tower of Knowledge
The route is a loop: you leave the starting area, return to it several times, and every new ability opens a gate you passed earlier.
First you clear the crypt and shrine to earn the Holy Sword of Endu and its wind gem. Next you fetch the Azure Torch and a second wind gem, which lets you light the first two gargoyle statues and cross the broken bridge to the west. That bridge leads to the water area, where four triangular slates open Obelbiar Temple. Inside the temple you collect the third wind gem, beat three royal guard sub bosses, and fight Daggum. Daggum’s death leads you to the third gargoyle statue and a fast travel point back to the beginning, which in turn leads to the Tower of Knowledge and the final path to the mausoleum.
How to progress through Queen’s Domain step by step
Follow these steps in order, and you’ll always have a clear next target.
Take the rusty sword and reach the first safe point
Talk to the soldiers around the campfire at the start to get their rusty sword, then break the wooden planks blocking the way to the safe point. Rush past the enemies here and grab the dagger belt as soon as you can.
Loop the beach to the crypt and take the crypt key
Your first goal is to unlock the gate to the nearby shrine, and the key is in a crypt reached by looping around the beach. Throw a dagger at the laser flowers and at the switch near the crypt entrance to open the door. You can rush through or fight your way down methodically. At the bottom of the stairs you’ll find the crypt key and an elevator back up near the safe point. The wooden club is in this crypt too, so pick it up.
Defeat the shrine guardian and take the Holy Sword of Endu
Rest at the safe point, then head to the shrine. The shrine guardian is weak to impact damage like other skeletons, so use the wooden club and keep your distance. Use herbs and elixirs without guilt. Beating him gives you the Holy Sword of Endu, which comes with a wind gem for a mid-air wind dash. This is your main way of reaching new areas.
Cross the east bridge and take the Azure Torch
Before going west, head east and wind dash across the bridge to the Tower of Knowledge area. Take the Azure Torch from the gargoyle statue there. You’ll need it to light the gargoyle statues later.
Reach the second save point and claim wind gem #2
Back at the first save point, head up the hill and wind dash across, looping around to the second save point high up. From there, climb the rocks between the pillars and fly over to the second wind gem, which gives you an extra air dash.
Light the first gargoyle statue on the broken stairway
Don’t go west yet. At the same pillars, leap up to a little blue lantern, then dash across to a broken stairway. At the top, defeat the skeletons and light the first of three gargoyle statues. Lighting all three rings a bell high above, which matters later.
Take the elevator and light the second gargoyle statue
Above the first save point, near where you dashed over to the second, a higher area now opens up with an elevator that leads back to ground level. Wrap around to the north from the elevator to find the second gargoyle statue. Light it. Note the locked gate here, which you can’t open yet.
Double dash across the broken bridge to the third save point
Head east to where you first fought a centipede enemy. Wind dash twice to reach the other side of the broken bridge and the third save point. You’re now in the water area.
Collect the four triangular slates
The door into Obelbiar Temple needs four triangular slates, and the red fish make the area tricky. Here’s where each one is:
- Slate one: Behind the circular area filled with little red fish, turn east instead of west. It sits on a rock guarded by skeletons.
- Slate two: On broken columns west of the first one. Climb along the broken wall to reach it.
- Slate three: From the main area with several skeletons, where you loot the trident weapon, drop down and head to the western corner.
- Slate four: On a large broken platform or column in the middle of the area. You must wind dash to it. Several skeletons wake up, but you can grab the slate and jump off.
Bring all four to the door at the back of the area to enter Obelbiar Temple.
Find the trident key, wind gem #3, and cross the pit
In the temple, you want two trident keys and another wind gem. The first trident key is in a watery area near the entrance after dropping down. Use it to continue to the second save point, then wind dash into the hole in the wall down below in the large pit. The second trident key is up where a couple of skeletons ambush you. The third wind gem is in that same area, giving you three air dashes total. Three dashes let you cross the large pit near the save point.
Defeat the three royal guards and open the boss door
From the save point room, head into the large cavern and fight three royal guard sub bosses. They aren’t hard to find. Once all three are down, a door opens in the cavern that leads to the boss.

Queen’s Domain
How to beat Daggum, the sea king, in Obelbiar Temple
Daggum is manageable if you bring healing items and a good stock of throwing weapons, and use your air dash to escape the water hazards.
- Hit him with the Azure Torch whenever possible to proc passive damage.
- Air dash away from the current he creates and the poison he spreads in the water.
- His small fish minions die quickly to slash attacks.
After he falls, leave the dungeon and light the third gargoyle statue with the Azure Torch. A fast travel point nearby takes you back to the beginning area, near the second gargoyle and the locked gate.
How to clear the Tower of Knowledge and reach the mausoleum
With all three gargoyles lit and their bells rung, return to the Tower of Knowledge, which is a slog of tough enemies that inflict status effects.
Solve the numbered gargoyle puzzle: light gargoyles three and seven
The balcony puzzle with numbered gargoyle statues is solved by lighting gargoyle number three and gargoyle number seven. Three plaques, one in the rubble, tell you which two to light. Light the wrong ones and the gargoyle attacks with a swarm of book bugs. The correct pair unlocks a door nearby that leads back inside the tower.
Climb to the fast travel point and take the Storm Gem
Go through that door, work your way to the next safe point, and climb the stairwell to the top to find a fast travel point. You may need to talk to War-Hat in her nearby study. Up a massive staircase nearby is the Storm Gem for the Sword of Endu, which gives the sword a charge meter for an ultimate attack.
Rotate the stairway and get the Forbidden Archives Key from Bodine
The locked doors near the Storm Gem look like a dead end. From beneath where you got the Storm Gem, air dash over to a switch that rotates the stairway. Head up it, then take the elevator down to Bodine, who gives you the Forbidden Archives Key. It unlocks the doors near the Storm Gem.
Fight through the gauntlet to the Necronomicon
Another safe point sits here, and up the elevator is a gauntlet of enemies before the boss. The screaming faces and flesh blobs in the tower can’t be dealt with until this boss is dead.

How to beat the Necronomicon boss
The Necronomicon spams status effects from range, so the winning approach is to stay back, throw things, and slash when it drops.
- Keep your distance and throw daggers, piercing daggers, and occult knives until the book falls down long enough to slash it.
- Use the Azure Torch to set it on fire.
- When it turns into its goat form, stay away until it changes back.
Burning the book rewards you with an acid vial, which coats your basic throwing daggers with acid so you can pop the face pimples around the Tower of Knowledge. Popping them reveals secrets and weapons, but the important one is near Bodine, who has tragically died. Popping it opens the path out to the mausoleum and a way to open the big door near the campfire soldiers you met at the beginning.
5 mistakes that send you in circles in Queen’s Domain
- Heading west too early: You need the second wind gem and gargoyle work first. Go east for the Azure Torch, then handle the pillars and stairway.
- Fighting without throwing weapons: Skipping the dagger belt makes combat much harder. Grab it at the start.
- Chasing all four trident keys: Only two are in the temple, and you don’t need any of them to progress.
- Lighting every numbered gargoyle: Wrong ones spawn book bugs. Light only three and seven.
- Trying to pop face pimples or touch flesh blobs early: You can’t deal with them until the Necronomicon is dead and you’ve got the acid vial.
- Using the club on the wrong enemies: Impact weapons shine against skeletons, including the shrine guardian. Don’t keep the rusty sword out for those.

Queen’s Domain Queen’s Domain progression route: where to go next and in what order FAQ
Where do I go first in Queen’s Domain after the starting campfire?
Go to the nearby crypt, reached by looping around the beach, to get the crypt key that opens the shrine gate. Grab the rusty sword and dagger belt first, then throw a dagger at the laser flowers and the entrance switch. After the crypt, head to the shrine and beat the guardian.
How do I get the second wind gem in Queen’s Domain?
Reach the second save point high above the first, climb the rocks between the pillars, and fly over to the gem. From the first save point, head up the hill and wind dash across, looping around to reach that second save point. The gem gives you an extra air dash.
Where are the four triangular slates for Obelbiar Temple?
They’re all in the water area past the third save point. One is east behind the red fish circle, one is on broken columns to its west, one is in the western corner below the trident area, and one is on a large platform in the middle that requires a wind dash. Bring all four to the door at the back.
Which gargoyle statues do I light in the Tower of Knowledge?
Light gargoyle number three and gargoyle number seven. Lighting the wrong ones summons a horde of book bugs. The right two unlock a nearby door back into the tower.
How do I open the path to the mausoleum?
Beat the Necronomicon to get the acid vial, then coat your daggers and pop the face pimple near the dead Bodine. That opens the path out to the mausoleum and a way to open the big door near the beginning campfire.
Do I need all four trident keys to progress?
No, they’re only for extra loot. Two are found in Obelbiar Temple, one comes from maxing out the looted trident weapon, and one is sold in the shop after the Tower of Knowledge boss.
