The short answer
- Where it is
- All five pieces are in the sandstorm zone of the Crimson Desert region, on its northern rim between Outlaw Canyon, Urdavah and Trader’s Expanse. The helm is down a pit at Remnants of Paradise; the chest piece and the matching sword come from the Skull Knight, a boss in a cave at Trivana Sound; the cloak, boots and gloves are hidden chests along the cliff rim between Outlaw Canyon and Trader’s Expanse.
- Do this first
- Finish Kliff’s post-ending quest Beyond the Margins. It clears the storm, and players who hunted the set with the storm still up spent hours seeing three metres ahead with no minimap.
- What you get
- The chest piece has two native crit slots and three Abyss gear slots. The helm siphons spirit, the cloak stamina and the gloves health. The Skull Knight’s sword reaches 38 attack at max refinement with two crit and one attack speed. The boots are plain.
- The trap
- Three of the chests are behind things that look like solid rock or sand. You walk through them. And the helm chest does not appear until you pull a lever inside the pit dungeon.

30-second quick start (TL;DR)
- Region: the northern rim of the Crimson Desert, between Outlaw Canyon and Trader’s Expanse. Everything is a short ride apart.
- Helm: fall into the hole in the ruined floor at Remnants of Paradise, pull the lever in the dungeon below, open the chest it reveals.
- Cloak: a cave in the inside face of the storm cliff, east of the main road. One player reports the cave killing them as “out of bounds”; reload and retry.
- Boots: under sand on the water side at the back of the cliff, on the lake shore west of Trader’s Expanse. Walk through the odd sand-coloured patch to find the worm hole.
- Gloves: the Dried-Up Canal gorge north of Urdavah, by Outlaw Canyon. Inside, walk through the wall that looks out of place.
- Chest piece and sword: beat the Skull Knight in the cave at Trivana Sound; the chest piece is in his chamber.
What this guide helps you do
The Void Plate set is the new armour players spotted on launch night in Kliff’s desert chapter and then could not find. One hunter spent three and a half hours in the storm and came out with the cloak. Another finally posted all five locations with map crosshairs, and this guide is built on that post, its corrections and the stat reports in the replies. Pearl Abyss has not documented the set, so where a location is a single player’s word we say so.
It assumes you have finished the main story. Kliff’s quest line in the desert only opens after Journey’s End; if you have not got there, see what the DLC gates behind the ending.
Clear the storm before you start
The set lives in the sandstorm area that Kliff’s post-ending quest, Beyond the Margins, sends you into. While the storm is up you cannot see more than a few metres, the minimap switches off and quest markers stop working. Finish the quest first. One of the players who found the cloak says they only managed it “after clearing the storm quest-line for clearer visibility”, and the three-and-a-half-hour hunter was searching blind.
Two other things about this zone. The far-west stretch can soft-lock you out of bounds until you reload a save, and one cloak hunter reports the cloak cave itself flashing an out-of-bounds warning and killing them on entry. If that happens, reload and approach again rather than pushing deeper.

Every piece: where and how
| Piece | Where | How | Stat players report |
|---|---|---|---|
| Void Plate Helm | Remnants of Paradise, a ruin in the storm zone | Drop through the gap in the rubble floor into a pit dungeon. Pull the lever inside to reveal the chest. | Spirit siphon |
| Void Plate Cloak | A cave in the inside face of the cliff bordering the storm area, east of the main road and north of the Crimson Desert lettering on the map | Hug the cliff face and look for the cave opening. Reported out-of-bounds death on entry for one player. | Stamina siphon |
| Void Plate Boots | The back side of the cliff at its base on the water side: the lake shore west of Trader’s Expanse | Find the oddly shaped, sand-coloured patch against the rock. Walk through it into a worm hole; the chest is under the sand beyond. | Basic, no special effect |
| Void Plate Gloves | The Dried-Up Canal, a dry gorge north of Urdavah beside Outlaw Canyon | Inside the gorge’s cave, walk through the part of the wall that looks out of place. | Health siphon |
| Void Plate Armor (chest) | The Skull Knight’s chamber, Trivana Sound | Enter the cave at the base of the striped rock pillar, beat the Skull Knight, loot the chest piece in his treasure chamber. | Two native crit, three Abyss gear slots |
| Skull Knight’s sword | Dropped by the Skull Knight | Same fight. | Two crit, one attack speed, 38 attack at max refinement |
The three cliff chests are within a few minutes’ ride of each other along the main road that runs from Urdavah north-east toward Trader’s Expanse. Open the map’s Environment filter: unopened treasure chests draw as small orange boxes, and the ones you want sit against the cliff rim north of the Crimson Desert lettering. The schematic below shows the relative positions from the players’ screenshots.

Step-by-step: the full set in one trip
Tick these off as you go. Your progress stays on this device.
Finish Beyond the Margins
Kliff’s desert quest clears the storm. Do not hunt chests blind.
Ride to Remnants of Paradise for the helm
Stand on the cracked rubble floor among the ruined walls and find the dark gap. Drop in. Explore the pit dungeon until you find a lever; pull it, and the helm chest appears.
Work the cliff for the cloak
Follow the main road north-east past the Crimson Desert lettering and turn to the cliff on your right. The cave with the cloak chest opens off its inside face. If the game kills you for being out of bounds, reload and try the entrance from a different angle.
Go round the back for the boots
Ride to the lake shore west of Trader’s Expanse, on the water side at the base of the cliff’s rear. Look for a flat, sand-coloured patch that does not match the rock. Walk into it. The worm hole leads to the chest under the sand.
Take the Dried-Up Canal for the gloves
North of Urdavah, beside Outlaw Canyon, the map marks a gorge called the Dried-Up Canal. Enter its cave and push through the section of wall that looks wrong. The gloves chest is behind it.
Find the Skull Knight at Trivana Sound
Look for a tall striped rock pillar against the cliff. The cave mouth is at its base, to the right of the pillar.
Beat the Skull Knight
He waits in a treasure-filled chamber beside an empty throne, gold-armoured with a skull visor. Nobody has posted a strategy yet; players who cleared him treated him as a standard sword-and-armour boss. Bring potions and a parry build.
Loot the chamber
His sword drops on the kill. The chest piece is in a chest in the same chamber. Check behind the throne.

Is the Void Plate set worth it?
Opinions split in the first replies. One player calls the chest piece “easily the best chest piece I’ve found in the game”: two native crit and three Abyss slots beat the Kuku Flame chest in their view. Another says a fully maxed set does not out-stat the Plate Armor of the Shadows, and that it looks cool but does not get better numbers.
Both can be true. Crimson Desert armour is mostly about slots and effects rather than raw defence, so a chest with three Abyss slots is a real build piece even if the full set is a sidegrade. The siphon effects on the helm, cloak and gloves (spirit, stamina, health) are the kind of passive sustain that matters in the no-food Garden of Trials. The boots are the weak link; players swap them out and fix attack speed, crit and movement speed with rings, a shield and a necklace instead.
Troubleshooting and common mistakes
- Mistake: Searching only inside the storm. Fix: Most of the set is on the cliffs at the storm’s edge, not in the open sand. One player wasted hours by staying in the storm.
- Mistake: Standing in the helm dungeon with no chest in sight. Fix: There is a lever. Pull it and the chest is revealed.
- Mistake: Walking past the boots entrance. Fix: It is a sand-coloured shape that looks like a graphics glitch. Walk into it.
- Mistake: The cloak cave kills you on entry. Fix: A reported out-of-bounds bug. Reload and enter again from another angle.
- Mistake: Expecting the sword from a chest. Fix: The Skull Knight drops it. The chest in his chamber holds the armour.
- Mistake: Replacing a maxed Shadows set on sight. Fix: Compare slots and effects. The chest piece is the upgrade; the rest is a matter of taste.
FAQ
Where is the Void Plate armor in Crimson Desert?
In the sandstorm zone of the Crimson Desert region, between Outlaw Canyon and Trader’s Expanse. The helm is in a pit at Remnants of Paradise, the chest piece comes from the Skull Knight at Trivana Sound, and the cloak, boots and gloves are hidden chests in the cliffs around the storm’s edge.
Do I need to finish the DLC story to get it?
You need Journey’s End to start Kliff’s desert quest, and you want that quest done so the storm clears. The chests themselves are open-world finds.
Who is the Skull Knight?
A gold-armoured, skull-visored boss in a treasure chamber at Trivana Sound. He drops a one-handed sword with two crit and one attack speed, 38 attack at max refinement, and his chamber holds the Void Plate chest piece.
What are the Void Plate set stats?
Player reports: the chest has two native crit and three Abyss gear slots; the helm siphons spirit, the cloak stamina and the gloves health; the boots have no special effect. Pearl Abyss has not published the numbers.
Is it better than the Plate Armor of the Shadows?
The chest piece is a strong build piece because of its slots. At max refinement the full set does not out-stat the Shadows set according to one player who has both.
