Milestone has released a new patch for Screamer out now that adds a Single Stick control mode, allowing players to steer and drift using a single controller stick across all game modes. The developer describes the feature as designed to make the game more approachable for newcomers, while noting that the Twin Stick control scheme remains the recommended way to play and fully engage with the game’s ECHO System.
Beyond the control option, the update includes gameplay refinements and character balance adjustments inspired by community feedback. Several characters have received tweaks: Roisin’s SGU speed threshold was increased from 230km/h to 240km/h while her SGU Sync generation was decreased, Keiji received increased low-RPM power delivery, and Gregor had his SGU speed threshold lowered. Ritsuko, the Announcer, and Mr. A also received various adjustments to torque power and ability values.
The patch introduces a new way to unlock Tournament Crew characters, allowing players to unlock them in any game mode after obtaining all other characters and tracks. Other quality-of-life improvements include making the selected gameplay camera persist as the default for subsequent races and fixing an invisible collision on the Steel Bowel track.
