Oxalis Games has launched Moonfrost, its narrative-driven cozy life-sim RPG, on Steam Early Access as of October 12, 2026. The game is priced at $14.99 USD, £12.99 GBP and €14.99 EUR.
The game is set in a world scarred by a second moon. According to the publisher, it appeared in the sky a century ago and rained icy meteorites across the world. Players take on the role of the Frost Hunters, pioneers who learn to harness a substance survivors named Moonfrost and use it to bring a struggling village back to life.
Rebuilding the village is tied to rebuilding its people. According to Oxalis, each restored home or business brings another villager back, and every character has a personality and story arc that evolves as the village grows. Players can form friendships and romances, and their choices shape how the community comes together.
The core loop centers on growth. Players farm, fish, forage and gather materials, then craft them into goods to build with. Quests unlock new tools and requests fund future crafting. Ancient temples beyond the village contain enemies, traps and rare resources, along with clues about the second moon.
The studio describes the art as next-generation pixel art. Other listed features include character and farm customization, livestock care, cooking and world exploration. Oxalis Games is a collective of hand-crafted game makers, and the game is published by Oxalis Games.
A launch trailer is available, and the studio’s team is available for interviews. Oxalis is also preparing Tiny Dwellings, a cozy pixel-art builder that is coming to Steam Next Fest this fall.
