Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Renown Guide and How to Repair Weapons

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave screenshot

The short answer

What it is
Renown is your Part I reputation track, with 12 ranks on every path. It gates recruitment, class exams, new Dagsion facilities and shop stock. Normal play gives roughly one rank per chapter.
Fastest way up
Clear main battles (about 500 each), then dated quests and paralogues before their deadlines, take every weekly god audience on Temple Row, and run your lord’s own Renown activity. Use World Map skirmishes only to close a small gap.
Repairing weapons
Weapons never break. Only Combat Arts spend durability. Repair at the Blacksmith in Dagsion for Gold plus Smithing Stones. Guides disagree on when the Blacksmith opens.
The trap
God audiences come from the Audience Reception NPC, not the prayer altar. Paralogues and dated quests expire, and they are the biggest Renown payouts after main battles.

Renown gates recruits, class exams and Dagsion’s facilities. Each lord earns it differently.

30-second quick start (TL;DR)

  • What it unlocks: recruits, class exams (Specialty at 4, Advanced at 8), the Theater (7), the Thermae (8), better shop stock.
  • Biggest sources: main battles, then paralogues and dated quests.
  • Free weekly Renown: god audiences on Temple Row cost no Turn. Talk to the Audience Reception NPC.
  • Lord activities: Cai’s Kindness Quests, Dietrich’s Challenge Letters, Theodora’s Send Supplies, Leda’s Perform Quests.
  • Top up: World Map skirmishes give small, repeatable amounts.
  • Weapon repair: Blacksmith in Dagsion, Gold plus Smithing Stones. Only Combat Arts use durability.

What this guide helps you do

Almost every system in Part I checks your Renown. Recruits ask for Renown 3 to 10, class exams need 4 and 8, and the Theater and Thermae open late. This guide explains what each of the 12 ranks unlocks, every way to earn Renown with the amounts guides report, each lord’s own Renown activity, and the order that climbs fastest. It ends with a short section on repairing weapons at the Blacksmith.

Checked on Ver. 1.1.0 (October 15, 2026). The rank table is the same in two guides. The exact points needed for each rank are not published.

Renown is a 12-rank Part I track that gates almost everything

Every path has the same 12-rank track, and rank 12 is the cap. Renown decides when you can recruit a unit, sit a class exam, use new facilities in Dagsion and buy better stock. Some World Map checkpoints and strongholds also need Renown to pass, such as Urkulu Stronghold, according to one guide.

Whether Renown carries over is not settled. One guide says it does not carry into Parts II and III. No source clearly says whether it carries between Part I paths. Plan each path as if you start from rank 1.

The unit’s Character Info screen shows which recruitment requirements, Renown included, are still outstanding. See our recruitment guide for each unit’s Renown target per path.

What each of the 12 Renown ranks unlocks

RankUnlocks
1Starting rank. Beginner class exams.
2Feasts on the World Map. One guide says temple audiences also need rank 2.
3Expanded Inn meal menu
4Specialty class exams, better Training Grounds
5Improved Inn meal effects
6Manuals in the Item Shop, better service tributes
7Theater Watch option, +1 refined weapons in the Armory
8Advanced class exams, the Thermae, Theater Act option
9More Thermae options, better meals
10+2 refined weapons, better service tributes
11Extra Large Bullion x1
12Portrait of Yu Phas x1

Two lords get extra perks, per one guide. Cai gets new Mentoring lessons at most ranks and extra farm plots at rank 9. Theodora gets better battalions from Recruit Soldiers and more battalion slots at ranks 5, 7 and 9. The Portrait of Yu Phas at rank 12 is a liked gift for Theodora and Sirocco, as our gifts guide shows. For which exams each rank opens, see the class change guide.

God audiences are free Renown every week

Divine Services take place on Temple Row. An audience costs no Turn and you can take one every week. Talk to the Audience Reception NPC, not the prayer altar. Each god holds service on a set day:

  • Monday: Aurora
  • Tuesday: Mars
  • Wednesday: Smyrnos
  • Thursday: Jurah
  • Friday: Kalla
  • Saturday: Credna

Each lord has a Renown activity of their own

LordActivityRenown
CaiKindness QuestsLost Hair Clip 100; Cleaning an Abandoned House 130; Request to Capture Orniuses 200; Vegetables for Arago Guests 250
DietrichChallenge Letters, the Dread Warrior Challenges from the HeadhunterAbout 150 each. Answerer’s Cry pulls hidden enemies onto the map for small repeatable amounts
TheodoraSend Supplies, from BonaventureSteelfish 320; Ladon Loach 320
LedaPerform Quests, from the tavern ownerAbout 200 each

One guide rates Cai’s and Leda’s paths as the easiest climbs and Dietrich’s as the hardest, because his Renown leans on combat.

The fastest method is main battles first, then everything that expires

  1. Clear main battles. At about 500 each, they are the largest single payout listed.
  2. Do dated quests and paralogues before their deadlines. Paralogues pay 150 or more and some recruits depend on them.
  3. Take every weekly god audience. It is free and costs no Turn.
  4. Run your lord’s activity. Theodora’s 320-point Send Supplies and Cai’s 250-point Kindness Quest are the biggest single payouts listed.
  5. Close small gaps with skirmishes. They repeat, but pay little.

Weapons never break: repair them at the Blacksmith for Gold and Smithing Stones

Durability is only spent by Combat Arts. Normal attacks cost nothing, and the game shows the durability cost when you pick an art. Spells are not durability-based either: one review says they have limited casts that refill when you rest, and Blaze Arts cost HP.

At 0 durability, the weapon is not destroyed. One guide says its Combat Art can no longer be used, and a review calls it close to useless until repaired. Whether normal attacks still work at 0 is not confirmed, though one guide’s wording suggests they do.

Where: the Blacksmith in Dagsion. One guide puts it in the Shopping Arcade, next to the armorer you meet early in Ch. 3.

When it opens is disputed. One guide says Renown 4, another says Ch. 6, and a Theodora walkthrough says Free Time 3 (3/22 to 4/20). What is certain: it is not open at the start, and it opens a few chapters into Part I.

Cost: Gold plus Smithing Stones, or rarer stones for stronger weapons. The exact cost shows at the bottom of the Repair menu and scales with the weapon’s rarity. No numbers are published. One guide says a repair restores durability to full, and that a Boon of Salvation bought with Karma Shards lowers Blacksmith prices. The same Blacksmith also refines weapons, which one guide calls cheaper than buying new. No repair item or repair skill has been found.

Getting Smithing Stones:

  • Crates and barrels in dungeons, as an uncommon drop, plus mining and search spots and dungeon loot.
  • Ever Employed a Blacksmith? on the Bulletin Board: visit the Blacksmith for a Smithing Stone and 10 Renown. First path only.
  • Reported Smithing Stone spots: Pebble Mountain and Fort Hayn (Braxithea), Collapsed Fort and Niraga Mine (Amalthea), Nowah’s Cave (Elektra), and Valhalla Mine (Saveilon). For rare stones, one guide points to Atla Peak in Solidus, which includes Orichalcum, and Homeros Outcrop in Lambath.
  • In Part III, Warrior’s Soulstone drops in every dungeon and is used to refine past normal levels.

Watch out for Searching for Smithing Stones (deadline 5/7, one guide): it asks you to hand over 3 stones for 500G and 30 Renown. Do it only if you have stones to spare.

Step-by-step: a weekly Renown plan

Tick these off as you go. Your progress stays on this device.

  1. Clear the main battle

About 500 Renown each, the largest single source.

  2. List every dated quest and paralogue

Check the Bulletin Board, yellow-diamond NPCs and the Adventure Guide Quest List.

  3. Take this week’s god audience

Temple Row, Audience Reception NPC. No Turn cost.

  4. Run your lord’s activity

Kindness Quests, Challenge Letters, Send Supplies or Perform Quests.

  5. Top up with skirmishes

Only when you are a little short of a rank you need.

  6. Repair before big fights

Visit the Blacksmith once it opens, and carry spare Smithing Stones.

Troubleshooting and common mistakes

  • Mistake: Praying at the altar for Renown. Fix: Talk to the Audience Reception NPC instead.
  • Mistake: Grinding skirmishes for ranks. Fix: They pay little. Main battles and paralogues pay far more.
  • Mistake: Letting a paralogue expire. Fix: Clear it inside its calendar window. It is Renown and often a recruit.
  • Mistake: Assuming Renown carries to your next path. Fix: It is not confirmed. Plan to climb again.
  • Mistake: Thinking a weapon at 0 durability is gone. Fix: It is not destroyed. Repair it at the Blacksmith.
  • Mistake: Avoiding normal attacks to save durability. Fix: Only Combat Arts spend durability.
