Auroch Digital and Big Fan Games have released Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, a retro-style first-person shooter sequel, for $24.99 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game launched on October 14, 2026, according to the publishers.
The game puts players in the role of one of two playable characters: Nyra Veyrath, a blade-wielding Sister of Battle, or Malum Caedo, the Ultramarine returning from the original Boltgun. Each has a different playstyle and arsenal. The publishers also highlight new Melta weapons.
The story centers on the demigod Vashtorr the Arkifane, who has set off an explosion that destroyed much of the Imperial fleet. Malum and Nyra have to cleanse the corruption powering Vashtorr’s plans and send the demigod back to the Warp. According to the publishers, the campaign includes new enemies from several factions and returning foes such as Nurglings and Chaos Cultists.
The soundtrack is by Mick Gordon, who also scored DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal. A gameplay launch trailer is available on YouTube, and the game is on Steam.
Auroch Digital is a Bristol studio that made the original Boltgun and Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War. Big Fan Games is a Devolver Digital company that publishes licensed and indie titles.
