Demonschool Delay

Tactical RPG Demonschool Delays to November to Avoid Silksong

The highly anticipated tactics RPG Demonschool has been pushed back from its September 3 release date to November 19, 2025, as publisher Ysbryd Games navigates the increasingly competitive indie gaming landscape. The delay comes after the revelation that the much-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong will launch just one day after Demonschool’s originally planned release.

In a candid announcement, Ysbryd Games acknowledged the harsh realities facing indie developers in 2025’s crowded market. With 11 years of publishing experience, the company described the current market conditions as “brutal” for game releases, particularly when competing against highly anticipated titles for visibility.

Demonschool, developed by Oakland-based Necrosoft Games, blends tactical combat with university life in a unique horror-tinged RPG experience. Players control freshman Faye, the last heir to a demon-hunting bloodline, as she navigates both collegiate challenges and supernatural threats alongside her misfit companions. The game draws inspiration from Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, and 1970s Italian horror cinema, featuring a distinctive visual style that marries 2D sprites with dramatic lighting and 3D environments.

The November 19 delay marks what Ysbryd Games promises will be the final postponement for the title, which has faced previous delays in its development cycle. Steam review keys have already been distributed to press, underscoring how close the game was to its original launch date.

As compensation for the wait, the extra development time will allow Necrosoft Games to incorporate content originally planned for post-launch patches directly into the base game. This includes additional endings and minigames that might otherwise have been cut from the initial release.

“We hope fans who anticipated the game will forgive us for one final delay,” said Brian Kwek of Ysbryd Games, emphasizing that gaining proper visibility for Demonschool remains their primary concern in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

Demonschool will launch on November 19, 2025, for $24.99 across PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game promises a streamlined tactical experience where “motion equals action,” featuring 15 playable characters, social relationship building, and a semester-spanning narrative filled with side quests and supernatural mysteries.
