RUNT, a narrative-driven visual novel and adventure hybrid from Grimtaste Studios and publisher DreadXP, is now available on Steam. The game costs $9.99 and is discounted 20% for its first two weeks.
You play as Runt Stayer, a 19-year-old youngest brother in a post-apocalyptic world where animals have come to dominate. The mystery centers on a message defaced on your late father’s pulpit in an abandoned church in your small town, with a countdown ending on the fifth anniversary of his death. Solving it means confronting both supernatural threats outside town and your troubled family dynamics.
The game features multiple endings and a dialogue system that branches based on player choice. It weaves together complex family relationships, survival politics, and investigation across a mature narrative. The studio says RUNT combines original photography and hand-painted art for its aesthetic.
Grimtaste Studios is made up of developers Yves and Soren, both with backgrounds in fiction writing and game design. RUNT is their debut game.
