Heartworm, a lo-fi psychological horror thriller from developer Vincent Adinolfi and publisher DreadXP, is out now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. The game originally released on PC in July 2025 and has developed a cult following.

Heartworm blends survival horror classics like Resident Evil and Silent Hill with modern gameplay options. You play as Sam, a young woman grieving her grandfather’s death, who follows online forums to a remote haunted house in the mountains. The game features PSX-style visuals with optional tank controls, puzzle-solving, and combat using a camera as a weapon.

The campaign runs 4-6 hours and includes multiple endings. You can customise the experience to feel like a late 90s game or scale back the retro effects for a more modern look. An original soundtrack accompanies the exploration and discovery across evocative environments.
