Fireshine Games announced that Core Keeper will receive a free major update called Riders of the Underground on September 21, introducing rideable mounts, a new Hookshot grappling tool, and a new Moss sub-biome. The update lands on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
The update lets players ride cattle as mounts for the first time, with options to command them to stay in place, roam freely, or follow as a companion. The new Hookshot is a grappling hook that lets players traverse chasms and pits without needing to lay down paths or bridges. The Moss sub-biome appears in the Forgotten Ruins and features lush greenery among stone structures.
Riders of the Underground also adds multiple new pets with unique abilities, weapons, accessories, armor pieces, and quality of life improvements. The announcement coincides with Core Keeper reaching 6 million players worldwide since its launch.
