Big Shot Pictures has optioned the film rights to CookieRun, the video game franchise from South Korean developer Devsisters, with a targeted 2029 global release. Big Shot will lead production with Devsisters contributing to creative direction.

The film will be directed by Brian Robbins, founder of Big Shot Pictures. The 2029 release date aligns with the 20th anniversary of CookieRun: OvenBreak, the game that launched the franchise. Robbins previously led film adaptations including the Sonic the Hedgehog movies for Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures.

CookieRun has grown into a major entertainment property beyond its mobile games. According to the studio, the franchise has more than 300 million players and over $1 billion in lifetime revenue. CookieRun: Kingdom was named one of YouTube’s Top 10 U.S. trending topics in 2025. The franchise’s first U.S. pop-up in Times Square drew over 40,000 visitors, and its trading card game, CookieRun: Braverse, landed on Amazon’s Top 100 Toys of 2026.
