Acclaim Inc. debuted a new gameplay trailer for HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate at The MIX: Fall Online Showcase. The game is developed by Wabisabi Games, and the trailer shows areas that have not been seen before, along with new playable riders.
The trailer includes an active volcano, where players can grind across lava-lit terrain, as well as shimmering ice caves. It also features a giant snowboarding kaiju, which the publisher says players can ride as they take on the courses.
The game is an arcade snowboarder inspired by SSX and Jet Grind Radio. It includes three modes: Challenge, where players complete objectives to score as high as possible; Race, which pits players against NPCs or others on the slopes; and Chill, an endless mode for exploring the tracks. According to the publisher, multiplayer supports up to eight players online and four players in local split-screen.
HYPERyuki is slated to launch on Steam and consoles next year. Acclaim said a demo will follow before launch. The game was first revealed at last year’s Play Acclaim Showcase.
Acclaim describes the game as a modern take on the extreme sports titles of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Marc Anthony Rodriguez, Director of Publishing & Strategic Partnerships at Acclaim, said the team is building the game with its own identity.
