BREAKING: GAMURS sells flagship esports site Dot Esports

Accordingly to a highly credible and reliable source, GAMURS Group has completed the sale of their once flagship website Dot Esports to a private investor. The move was theorized by many in the industry after several rounds of layoffs and site consolidations across GAMURS portfolio of sites over the last few months.

GAMURS CEO Riad Chikhani shared this message with GAMURS employees, addressing the move:

I want to share some important news: today, GAMURS has completed the sale of Dot Esports to a new owner.  This is obviously huge news for both Dot Esports and GAMURS as a whole, so let me explain in more detail. The new owner is a private investor who is a longtime admirer of Dot Esports. Day-to-day operations will remain unchanged for now, and the team will be transitioning in full. The sale reflects Dot’s incredible brand value and leadership in the competitive gaming space. Dot has played a major role in GAMURS’ history. I’m proud of what we’ve built together and deeply appreciative of the talent, passion, and consistency that brought Dot to this point. The sale of Dot Esports allows us to focus on the future of GAMURS and demonstrates our commitment to investing in the future of gaming media, the gen z audience, and building brand and product experiences across multiple touchpoints and platforms. This move truly sets GAMURS up for our next chapter, and I’m so honored to have you with us along the way  Thank you for everything you do. I’m excited to see Dot thrive in its next phase, and I’m excited for the future of GAMURS.

In recent weeks, new posts on Dot Esports have been few and far between, other than daily updates of mobile game promo codes. Many key staff members were also recently moved from Dot Esports and onto one of GAMURS’ other websites, Destructoid.

According to GAMURS website, its remaining brands includes Destructoid, Pro Game Guides, Gamepur, Twinfinite, Prima Games, Touch Tap Play, Gamer Journalist, Attack of the Fanboy, We Got This Covered, The Mary Sue, Operation Sports, The Escapist, Siliconera and Game Skinny. Though it’s worth pointing out, many of these sites have not been updated or posted to in months.

This story is still developing and will be updated in real-time.
