DreadXP announced that RUNT, a post-apocalyptic visual novel mystery developed by Grimtaste Studios, will release on Steam on August 6, 2026.
You play as RUNT, the youngest of five siblings in a world where humans no longer dominate the animal kingdom. The story begins when an ominous countdown written in blood appears in your father’s boarded-up church on the fifth anniversary of his death. You must investigate the omen and solve the mystery surrounding your family.
The game features branching dialogue choices and multiple endings. Your decisions shape relationships with townspeople and determine how you navigate complex family dynamics and survival politics. According to the studio, the narrative weaves together your troubled feelings about your father, brothers, and yourself throughout the story.
RUNT combines hand-painted art with original photography to create its visual style. The game is designed as a mature, slow-burn mystery for adventure and visual novel fans, with what DreadXP describes as unpredictable outcomes and supernatural threats woven through a detailed post-apocalyptic setting.
