PLAION REPLAI has delayed the NEOGEO AES+ to September 16, 2027. The retro console was previously planned for November 2026.
The publisher cited overwhelming consumer demand and supply chain constraints as reasons for the delay. According to PLAION REPLAI, the extra time will allow the company to expand manufacturing capacity, secure component supply, and add more games to the launch lineup beyond the 10 titles already announced.
All existing pre-orders remain secure and retain priority in the production queue. No price increase is planned. Pre-orders continue to be available on Amazon, Amazon Canada, and plaionreplai.com.
Every console from the launch production run will include a Founding Supporter Bonus as thanks for customer patience. Standard and Anniversary Edition buyers will receive a free NEOGEO AES+ gamepad. Ultimate Edition customers will get a 30% discount voucher for games on the PLAION REPLAI website.
Ben Jones, Commercial Director at PLAION REPLAI, said the company explored every option to maintain the original timeline but concluded that launching with constrained availability would not be fair to the community. “Taking additional time allows us to build the inventory while expanding our manufacturing,” Jones said in a statement.
PLAION REPLAI is in discussion with other licensors to bring additional games to the platform. The company will showcase the NEOGEO AES+ at Tokyo Game Show 2026.
