Fireshine Games has started a Halloween Event for its FPS Far Far West, running today through Nov. 12. The update adds a new map, a set of limited-time Halloween cosmetics and a trailer for the event.
The event introduces three temporary resources: Feathers, Pumpkins and Skulls. Players can collect them on the maps Far West, Area 41 and the new Redwood map, then bring them back to the lobby to perform a ritual that earns Haunted Candles. Candles are the currency for the event’s cosmetics, which include the Sawbones, Scarecrow and Pumpkin Jack character skins, a horse mount skin, a Spook emote and several titles.
According to the publisher, the Halloween cosmetics can only be earned during the event. After it ends, they will need to be purchased with in-game gold until next year’s event. Three new female character skins are not tied to the event and will remain available. Leftover Haunted Candles can be exchanged for 2 souls each when the event ends.
New systems and content
The update also adds several systems outside the event. The Joker’s Choice system lets players pick between two Jokers of the same tier when they find one on a mission. The Disturbance System adds modifiers to a run as players complete objectives. A new questline in Woodlands unlocks the Redwood map, which has its own secrets to uncover.
The update includes hundreds of bug fixes, according to Fireshine Games. The studio also says Far Far West has sold over 1 million copies. A horse racing minigame in the lobby is also included.
The Halloween Event is available now on Steam. Trailers, screenshots and key art are available from the studio’s press assets.
