Marvel Snap is handing out one of its rarest cards for free. When the Vampires vs Zombies event ends, every player gets Zombie Captain Marvel, a Series 5 card, along with the rest of the event’s rewards. Second Dinner confirmed it on the game’s official account today, and it settles a week of player speculation about who would get what.

“So these rewards in the image are exactly what will be given to every player at the end of the event. At least we don’t have to speculate anymore.”

The reward art shows both sides of the event. The zombie side has the Zombie Captain Marvel card, a Zombie Blade avatar and a card back, while the vampire side has a Blade card, a Vampire Killmonger avatar and its own card back. All of it goes to everyone, whichever team they ended up on.

Why a free Series 5 card matters

Series 5 is Marvel Snap’s rarest tier, so these cards normally have to be pulled from Spotlight Caches or bought with Collector’s Tokens. Zombie Captain Marvel is a 4-cost card with a big swing ability: “Activate: Destroy your other cards here to get +3 Power for each. Move to a location you’re losing.”

Players on Reddit are mostly pleased, with one exception. “Bruh I just spent tokens on her last week,” one wrote.

How the event works

Vampires vs Zombies turned this month’s ranked games into an infection. Losing or retreating against an infected player can turn you into a vampire or a zombie, and your strain becomes your team. The event runs until November 2, and players who log in during it also get free card backs and variants.

Second Dinner has played the whole thing in character. The announcement came as “one last message” from Second Dinner’s SD_Brady “before he fully turned,” explaining that avatar borders “had to be sealed to the specific avatar for the event.”
