KRAFTON has released Update 42.2 for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, introducing a revamped onboarding experience for new players alongside new Arcade modes and team communication improvements.

The revamped Basic Training spans 17 chapters teaching fundamentals like movement, looting, combat, Blue Zone survival, vehicle driving, and teammate revival. An NPC partner provides contextual guidance through voice and Radio Messages as players practice in match-like scenarios. A new Beginner Training progression system follows, offering daily missions over 14 days to help new players build confidence and earn rewards.

The update brings back Hot Drop Arcade mode, a fast-paced limited-time experience set in a compact combat zone. Solo Deathmatch launches on July 29, offering free-for-all competition where players earn points for eliminations and damage dealt.

On console, Graphics Modes are now available across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, letting players choose between Resolution Priority for sharper visuals and Frame Rate Priority for smoother gameplay, with support for up to 120 frames per second.

Update 42.2 also redesigns the Message Radial System to make Radio Messages faster and more intuitive. Item Markers and marker previews have been added, while new Map, Mission and Match Log tabs improve access to in-game information. The patch includes map-specific optimization and world updates for Taego and Rondo, plus new cosmetics including a Contender Glasya outfit, Fashion Exhibit Lobby, a Progressive Weapon Skin for the SLR, and Survivor Pass: Just Married.
